Too bad that that author of the apology was not identified so they could live with the mark of shame for the rest of their career. I saw that remarkable CBC Power Panel with Stockwell Day live. Day expressed the wrong opinion about systemic racism, was angrily lectured by Amanda Alvaro and Emilie Nicolas, apologized unreservedly, and disappeared from the CBC and the boards he sat on.
Don Cherry said “you people,” apologized for his choice of words, and after nearly 40 years on Hockey Night in Canada, he was gone too.
Justin Trudeau? Blackface. Brownface. Elbowgate. His Tofino vacay. The Creston reporter and the memorable explanation that people can “experience interactions differently.” Apology after apology and on he went.
In Canada, some apologies end careers. Others apparently reset the clock.
And Trudeau’s apologists in the media? They seamlessly started flapping their elbows for Carney and moved on. After a decade of forgiving Trudeau, why would anyone expect them to start demanding results from Carney?
And no outlets are commenting on the fact that Carney has spent his first year and a half undoing all of his predecessor’s work. They certainly praise him and all the good work he is doing. Much like they praised his predecessor for all the good work he did. The medium IS truly the message…
Thank you bringing to my attention the Caylan Ford story - shocking & horrible - I’ll look up your conversation you referred to in the article. The level of malevolence is almost unbelievable. And these are people who seek office and freely publish information to the public. I wish her success, and I pray those malicious tormentors are unmasked and publicly held accountable. I’m in Alberta, so yeah, it matters. A lot.

Carney faces the "rhepurposing" of the Dabrusins, Fraser's Jolys and Millers as he continues the walk backs of the excesses of Trudeau lunacy they still clearly support or he risks taking equal amounts of fire from within the party he leads or will continue to take fire in no mans land.
I suspect that many of us who left MSM and went to multiple independent news streams may never return. Maybe if MSM reported the truth about what's behind these crazy fires and data centres but don't hold your breath. Once trust has been lost it rarely ever returns. Canadians can look at the US government and be appalled without seeing similar absurdities and crimes in our own.
And on another subject, I went into the Local store in Blackstock , beer and variety, which is also the post office, and which was recently sold to a very nice Muslim couple . I saw the Toronto star and the Toronto Sun on sale, and you can tell. I’m out of touch !these things are the size of a Marvel comic book; my goodness why do they even bother?
I agree. I never understood the issue -- putting a link to one's media website is free advertising. Why would Google et al pay to let media organizations get free links? But, .... you know ..... Ottawa.
I noticed your name pop up in one of the court decisions at the end of June. I was disappointed that we didn't get to hear your testimony or read the "Menzies Report."
There are so many shocking parts of this case to pick over. It merits a long form article and I hope someone does that.
Duncan Kinney's behaviour was particularly awful. "She needs to disappear." He must have been so pleased with himself when Corus pulled Smith's interview with Caylan.
Then swanning into the media budget lock up after the election as a member of the press pool. ugh
I'm afraid it's too late for Canada. This country's leaders have spent the last decade telling Canadians they should be ashamed of who they are. So our PM repeats a few bromides about anti-semitism and bringing ethnic hatreds with you when you immigrate here, etc. Has anything been done? The people in charge here have demonstrated they can be pushed around and intimidated. I honestly think Mr Carney wants to try and improve our country's economic position and its international reputation (as opposed to his predecessor), but he doesn't have many cards to play. Most of his party is still to the left of centre, and I'm sure deep down many are ambivalent about his policies. We are very much in your debt Peter for your dedication to truth and our national interest. Thanks.
