A week before we know the winner of the election, a debate debacle ensures the nation's news organizations will be big losers when it comes to retaining what remained of the public's faith in them
When we can't trust that our media isn't solely reporting on the basis of government funding, how can we possibly be living in a democracy? We might as well be living in China.
I'm no fan of Rebel Media either, but this is why they exist.
Rebel News is controlled opposition and their contrived banning from debates is part of the theater. Same goes for Juno News and Northern Perspective NONE of which cover the warrantless search and seizure of our biometrics using Smart AI nanotechnology biosensors embedded in masks, tests and jabs for surveillance under the skin via the Internet of Bio-Nano Things and the WBAN contrary to sections 184(1) and 430(5) of the Criminal Code of Canada. I TWICE sent Drea Humphrey a copy of my OPCC complaint and criminal charges which I laid in the Provincial Court of Vancouver against my former boss, the Director of Mail Operations for the City of Vancouver, Jen Gall for administering Canada Post's mandatory mask, test and gene therapy practices which were not supported by law. I was violently assaulted by Vancouver Police at my Canada Post workplace, permanently injured, handcuffed, placed in a police van, wrongfully fired, lost 11 years of future income, my benefits and fully half of my Maximum Pension for my refusal to wear a mask on August 17th, 2022 WHEN NO PROVINCIAL OR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MASK MANDATES WERE IN EFFECT. I have never been charged with a crime. To be clear, VPD LAW-ENFORCEMENT detectives wearing masks assaulted me at work WHEN NO LAW EXISTED TO SUPPORT IT.
Drea Humphrey wasn't interested and ignored my emails. Both sides of the FAKE 2-party paradigm exist to convince you that YOUR TEAM has your back. It doesn't.
Covid-19 was BY FAR the biggest transfer (theft) of wealth in history.
What's messed up is that the VAST MAJORITY of slavishly obedient Canadians on BOTH sides of the fake 2-party paradigm DON'T CARE about the millions of people MURDERED, fired, assaulted and robbed by our governments BECAUSE THEY COMPLIED WITH TYRANNY.
Because you get the funding for meeting certain criteria that has nothing to do with what you report on - other than it needs to be original content. Beyond that it’s about ownership (Canadian owned). I note that the Western Standard is a recipient of this funding. If you’ve not read that paper you may want to check it out. They are very non-factual (shall we say) and very far right. Not fans of the government.
Presumably, with a centrist government, you might have both far left and far right independent media. The fact that the "objectionable" media outlets are entirely right of centre is notable. It suggests that leftist views are more than adequately covered by mainstream media.
Right....that's why anti-genocide protesters exercising their Charter-protected right to protest are being fired, expelled and deported from the United States. The problem is the FAKE 2-party paradigm which encourages both teams to cheer on the unconstitutional rights- violations of the other team while simultaneously resisting their side's rights violations.
If you truly stand for our Charter-protected rights then, you will ALSO fight against the rights violations of your media-constructed "enemy."
Examples of rights violations include; asset-stripping/bank account freezing of the Trucker Convoy, firing of rightfully non-compliant federal government workers, violent assaults of non-compliant Canadians refusing mask mandates, firing/hate-speech charging/bank account freezing of pronoun refusniks AND firing, expelling, deportation of anti-genocide protesters. Otherwise you are a disgusting and hypocritical person.

Not the biggest fan of Rebel, ran into Levant at Pearson one day and never saw him not talking, but Rebel would not exist if there were no need for it.
The cbc represents the left, the far left and the communists, in other words the only people that count to them.
And Rebel and others do dare to ask questions not supported or directly contradictory to narrative control.
Questions I would like asked;
As Peter has mentioned, the head of Eurasia group that employs Carney’s wife and his advisor Butts, said a few weeks back that after the election Carney will quietly bend to Trump’s demands.
What does that mean?
This guy seems well placed to know?
If we are under threat from China and the USA shouldn’t we be concerned that both of those threats prefer Carney?
If Carney is suddenly in favor of oil and gas projects including pipelines, a complete contradiction of his every word and action of the last decade, why is Guillbeault still there running for the Liberals? He is a radical ideologue, defines the climate/insane, if he thought Carney was going to reverse the insanity of the last decade would he still be running?
I don’t believe that. Trump (and china) “preferring” Carney is a set-up. They think Canadians will reflexively vote opposite to what they want. Like when putin endorsed Kamala. As if. They think we’re as stupid as americans. (not all Americans).
I just don’t buy it. I don’t dislike all Poilievre’s policies, but he’s closer to trump ideologically than Carney. A few months ago PP was talking about how he would enjoy working together with trump, and bragging about Elon’s endorsement. When that backfired he quickly changed his tune and became a patriot. Carney has said right out loud our relationship with the US is dead and over. But we’re in the realm of opinion here, and that’s just mine. I’m sure you’ll disagree.
I wonder why everyone reacts so crazily to Rebel News. The commission banning them from the previous election debates, the cops arresting them at pro-Hamas rallies, Freeland's guards roughing them up on the street, CBC going full Hillary on them after the debate.
It is like they think the public will be on their side if they if abuse the deplorables. After the trucker convoy, I guess that might be true.
And it’s exactly the same, the Liberals are funding a massive NGO complex, it’s no wonder they are hiding where so much funds have gone, we still don’t know where $20-30billion went during Covid.
If you rightly resist the Charter-protected rights violations of YOUR TEAM but cheer on the Charter-protected rights violations of the other team of the media-constructed fake 2-party paradigm then, you are a disgusting and hypocritical person.
The right to protest during the courageous Trucker Convoy AND the right to protest for anti-genocide protesters are BOTH considered FREE SPEECH and protected by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Former employees say it’s part of their tactics. They go in aggressive, cause what they know will be a ruckus, then cry victim when the cops arrive. Apparently it works.
Fake and controlled opposition not asking the right questions because THE VAST MAJORITY OF CONSERVATIVES took multiple doses of experimental modified mRNA Gene Therapy platform injections which change gene expression and contain nanotechnology biosensors embedded in masks, tests and mRNA GENE THERAPY jabs for surveillance under the skin via the Internet of Bio-Nano Things.
But you don't care because you only vomit out what you are told to say by these same controlled opposition media pundits.
The real pandemic is how stupid, shamelessly obedient and cowardly everyone is.
I am extremely angry at the regime media, their collective elitism and their arrogance is never ever going to be forgotten. Every elite who sat at their throne room news desks paid for by tax payers should be cleaning latrines as a symbolic reminder of the sh1t they shoveled for far too many years. No kidding I am deadly serious. Anyone with investigative chops should return to investigating news and leave the commentary about media legitimacy alone.
Yeah, that’s my take as well, which means if the situation is not going as planned, can we expect an EU style cancellation of the election? Would they dare go to that extreme?
We are nowhere near that stage yet, in the eu they are disqualifying parties in advance, at this moment the AfD appears to have the largest percentage of support of all German parties, after the craziness of the last month, might cause a revolution if they try to ban it.
Menzies, Rebel wouldn’t exist if we had an unbiased, knowledgeable and inquisitive media industry in this country. But we don’t. Unifor ensures there is far left perspective in the media, as does the LIEberal Media Payola scheme.
Current media employs the same biased, rage baiting strategy that you criticize Rebel for. Face it, the media is broken in this country, it’s much closer to Soviet style Pravda and Tass propaganda, than a truly FREE press.
You should be thankful for Rebel, TN and the others, that they exist. If they’re getting under the skin of the establishment poohbahs of the media, then they are over the target. Aren’t they? Exposing the hypocrisy of the establishment is a necessary and healthy practice of a functioning democracy.
I’ve followed Ezra since he appeared on CFRB in Toronto years ago, and subscribed to the Rebel in the beginning. He’s exceptionally talented and has a wonderful delivery style. It’s too bad that he got up to the shenanigans that gave him a bad name. Not sure if you have noticed, but my fellow conservatives here on Substack have already begun laying the groundwork for the blame in case of an election defeat. In countless writings I have read the following, it is the Laurentien Elite, the Liberal, Bloq Quebecois base in Québec, and are you ready for this , older Canadian voters. That's right Peter old people, in one article the blame for all the Canadian housing problems, are the direct result of old people in Canada. Those selfish money grubbing old people. I could go on but I think you catch my drift.
Extensive polling has shown the Boomers as the one group heavily leaning Liberal. It’s odd and strange compared to past generations, where the 65+ crowd voted conservative. The collapse of the NDP benefits the Liberals, and I suspect, is largely the elderly NDP contingent. Yes, the ENDP has been poorly managed by one Jagmeet. He could have been oppo leader calling an election 6 months ago. Instead, he will be unemployed by the end of the month, though don’t shed tears for the Maserati Marxist.
In generations past ‘old people’ were ‘the greatest generation’ like my parents. Born during one war, mostly on farms, were young during the Depression, adults during the next war. They knew what kept food on the table and heat in the house. Of course they leaned conservative. Old people’ now are Boomers. Born during post-war ease. Given way too much because parents didn’t want us to suffer like they had. Shaped national culture by our sheer number, catered to and for at every stage. ‘Dazed and confused’ during the ‘sex, drugs and rock and roll revolution. Didn’t have to dodge a draft, had our attitudes shaped by those who came here doing so. Used to getting our own way as if we deserved to. Still overvalue an encyclopedic knowledge of old cars and music. Fought to get rid of our bras, legalized no-fault divorce contraception and abortion on demand. Still think of ourselves as we were during university: student ‘activists’ and ‘social justice warriors’ but now we own our homes and summer cottages AND we think we’re entitled to at least 2 weeks’ if not 6 months, lounging around somewhere warm every winter. So really, we’re merely ‘champagne socialists’. Naturally Liberal. But some of us have seen the light: I hope, enough.
Mark, correct me if I’m wrong but I believe the “old people” refrain stems from some age demographic sorting of decided voter polling which indicated a strong bias towards Carney amongst those 60 and over (Boomers). I am fairly certain that was the origin of that commentary.
Younger generations seemed vocally incredulous that a supposedly “wiser more experienced” generation could or would not see the grave peril a vote for the Liberals would entail. This despite the past decade of staggering economic decline thanks in large part to Trudeau 2.0 (and Carney) and the fact that most Boomers were around and lived through the economically disastrous era of Trudeau 1.0 so why are they voting for it again?
Second ( and Carney) Priminister yes what one month now? As for setting Canadian economic policy, give me a break. Mr Carney was Govenor of the Bank of Canada from 2008 to 2013 for which he received glowing reviews from The Late Great Jim Flaherety and The Right Honorable Stephen Harper.
Next up Mr Carney was Govenor of the bank of England from 2013 to 2020. Where he fell out of favour with the conservatives for advising against Brexit.
Then Mr Carney was appointed to the board of Brookfield management as a chair for Bloomberg . The UN appointment was as special envoy for climate action and finance.
His first interaction with the former Priminister was during the covid period as an economic advisor. Then in Sept 2024 Mr Carney was made chair of the liberal economic task force.
So where in this timeline does he dictate Canadian economic policy. The answer is nowhere. Should Mr Carney win the election he will then have the mandate to guide Canadian economic policy under the constraints of tarrifs and world trading partners. Ditto for Mr Poilievre.
Brian, Mr Flaherety's praises are on UTube dont take my word for it.
As for Mr Harper now stepping in and speaking on behalf Mr Poilievre, its starting to reek of desperation...
I will end with this.
What is the conservative platform, I am still waiting for ine, specifically speaking to the numbers that will make up the conservative economic policy. We are one week from election day, and what do we have, nothing. Unless your idea of an economic platform is axe the tax.
Hey Mark, what’s with all the hostility directed at me? Your reply seems to drip with overflowing animosity all aimed at me. And for what?
All I said was I had heard (or read) that; and this is demonstrably true, that some polls of decided voters which sorted their results by age indicated strong support for Carney amongst older Canadians. And my own anecdotal observations of social media discourse had revealed a growing generational divide between frustrated younger people facing 4 more years of the same incompetent Trudeau-era ministers now working for Carney who’s policies (with Carney advising Cabinet) are responsible for, among other things, the past decade of Canada’s declining GDP per capita. I won’t get into the plethora of scandal which also plagued their time in office.
Don’t shoot the messenger here, I am merely reporting what I am seeing manifest in online discussion…
So as I mentioned, it’s entirely understandable why some of the younger population are looking at this older generation’s support for Carney and seeing it as an egregious, self-absorbed if not entirely selfish misguided view. More so given that older demographic were forced to suffer under the gross financial vandalism committed by PET which took decades of hardship to recover from. I don’t necessarily share their exact perspective but I can rationalize why it’s there. I just wish people of all ages would do a better job of educating/informing themselves before casting an election ballot.
That said…
I have my own reasons for wanting to eject the LIEberals from political power for a very long time and they don’t have much to do with the above “controversy”. Rather, my reasons have EVERYTHING to do with one of the biggest examples of Trudeau’s malfeasance which Carney enthusiastically supports, and that is C21. You can look it up but it’s a whole other discussion so I’m not getting into it here.
Where was anything I wrote directed at you, and if you took it as such, or understood that I was attacking you personally. If you read what I wrote, it was of other writers, not you.
Again, what I wrote was of other writers not you?
When i wrote about Mr Carney I gave to you a factual list of his work expierience.
Listed from 2008 onward. How is that an attack on you, on your person.
At the end I wrote about fiscal policy, or lack there of, of the conservative party.
In your response you resorted to the childish word used by people to describe liberals.
So I will leave you with this. I have voted conservative since the Brian Mulroney Era. Conservative through and through, election after election. The difference between you and I is that I try and balance out what is being said and view that information or disinformation as a neutral observer.
I read your rapid fire defense of Mark Carney’s history as thinly veiled criticism of my political position when all I was trying to do with my original reply to your post was to offer what I thought to be a plausible explanation for the animosity seen lately towards the older generation vis-à-vis their voting intentions. But you’ve explained your intent so no harm no foul. We can move on from there.
Way before 1983 yes, and I not too fondly remember the dark economic times post Trudeau 1.0 along with the struggles and sacrifices to get past them. That plus this past decade of unconscionable economic vandalism courtesy of Justin with Carney actively advising since 2020 has, if you will forgive me, left a very bad taste in my mouth (and wallet) for all things Trudeau and his sycophant cabinet minister accomplices who now work for Carney.
So here is a question for you to ponder:
If Carney is suddenly in favor of oil and gas projects including pipelines, a complete contradiction of his every word and action of the last decade, why is Guillbeault still there running for the Liberals? He is a radical ideologue, defines the climate/insane, if he thought Carney was going to reverse the insanity of the last decade would he still be running?
But as I said, that for me isn’t the worst of it. C21 by far has stoked my anger towards the entirely clueless and complicit Liberal Party but especially its leader both past and present - Carney has vowed to continue persecuting and punishing lawful gun owners in a pathetic attempt to cover up for the government’s epic failure to deal with actual criminal possession and use of illegal firearms smuggled into Canada from the US. But I really did not wish to get into this subject on this particular substack so I will stop here.
I subscribed to Rebel News for a while, but eventually got tired of their approach. Too much emotion, too much emphasis on personality and not on results.
I helped them out when Rebel first started in Ezra’s living room many years ago. They tend to ‘go after people’, something I don’t like. However, in an enquiry into Canadian media last year, a retired CBC journalist stated that during the trucker’s protest in Ottawa, Rebel was the only media that did actual journalism. The rest simply parroted governmen propaganda.
Same here. Subscribed years ago, stopped for the same reasons. But I still get their free stuff on my feed, still keep an eye out, occasionally something comes up nobody else will cover and it turns out to be a bombshell. Then you see other outlets pick it up and refuse to credit what they’ve lifted from Rebel. And I was at the convoy: absolutely true. We wouldn’t have an idea about what it was like on the ground or how much ‘rage-farming’ outright lying, smearing, and stage-managing of fake scenarios the CBC was involved with, had Rebel not been there. I heard just standing in line at a soup kitchen, from an ex-military guy running security (I was carrying some props referring to military) for Convoy ground support, about the CBC setting up the’Confederate flag-waver’; he watched the whole thing unfold.
The retired CBC journalist mentioned that one of the Rebel journalists figured out by crawling down in part of the canal that the Nazi flag photo was also a plant.
Oh, yes; absolutely; we knew that too. It was just cringeworthy having to listen to Trudeau going on and on AND ON about ‘Nazi flags and Confederate flags’ at the Convoy - starting virtually simultaneously; it was almost ahead of time.
If the hideous Liberals win, within a few short years most of the economy will be subsidized. Entrepreneurs with a survival instinct will set up shop outside the country, by then a full-on state-controlled Soviet disaster. But far left Canada will have gotten what it wanted.
If Rebel Media was the guy with a megaphone blaring whatever crossed his mind at the lineup for the Liberal campaign stop in Hamilton, then someone could at least steal his batteries. Or tell him that he is loved.
When we can't trust that our media isn't solely reporting on the basis of government funding, how can we possibly be living in a democracy? We might as well be living in China.

Questions I would like asked;
Sorry, Sam Cooper has made a career detailing the LPC CCP connections.
And Trump clearly prefers Carney probably due to past business dealings.
Everyone loves to paint Trump as right wing but he only took over the GOP because Obama excluded him from the Democrat party
Trump is a New York liberal thru and thru down to the several gay people in his cabinet
WAKE UP! THEY ARE ALL IN ON IT.

I’m not quite sure what I’m to understand from this Angie.
A segment of the public will support them in efforts to prevent asking difficult questions that challenge the narrative.
Personally I would like an accounting of every penny of millions $$ given to native groups specifically to uncover graves.
From where I sit this just looks like a grift, no actions have occurred since the money flowed.
Any time someone raises the point accusations of racism follow.
Process is the same as the green slush fund grift, money flows and all attempts to track it are opposed.
Whatever else Trump does down south they are uncovering a massive circular economy of govt money and grifters getting rich.
Need the same bleach here.
I was with you until you brought Trump into your essay. There MAY be similarities but there is no relationship.
What essay? It’s a comment.
And it’s exactly the same, the Liberals are funding a massive NGO complex, it’s no wonder they are hiding where so much funds have gone, we still don’t know where $20-30billion went during Covid.
So just the word Trump got you all riled up, perspective and context dude. Get help.
They’re doing what media should do, which is ask uncomfortable questions. If they received an answer, there’d be no issue.
This is a great take you might appreciate: https://substack.com/home/post/p-161625531
Excellent! Thanks.
One other note
Trump has lost focus on us and now some polls (Mainstreet) show the conservatives moving into the lead.
Watch for Carney and the Liberals to attempt to provoke a response from Trump if the trend continues.
Hopefully not, but all that matters is winning, we come second.
Watch for more “today I phoned Prime Minister/President so and so” events.
I don’t think that has as much effect as Trump going on about the 51st state, but yes, caretaker convention be damned we have an election to win
A rhetorical question, does a PM in charge of a caretaker government have the authority to invoke the Emergencies Act?
The problem with canada is we don’t have rules or institutions, we are dependent on people of good character observing convention.
Then there was Justin
And now Carney following
So I doubt there is a law or rule against it.
I think the mainstream media are so jealous of his independence that they would love to see him taken down, especially at a time when they’re worried about their jobs. I doubt many, if any of them could build a successful platform like he has.
Not aware of the sin of bias. Will need to rewatch Seven.
Happy Easter Peter
After all the votes are cast.....
It is not just the media that will be blamed.
No Brian.
It was an overt attack blaming
" older" people for all that ails Canada.
Its the blame game.
Peace…
Question were you born before 1983?
I just wrote back to you, an hours worth of writing, and it dissapeared.......
Omg I could just die
It is easy to decode, if the information for is coming from a participant in the "The Trusted News Initiative " it is exactly the opposite of true.
If Rebel Media was the guy with a megaphone blaring whatever crossed his mind at the lineup for the Liberal campaign stop in Hamilton, then someone could at least steal his batteries. Or tell him that he is loved.
